The Concept and Inspiration

The idea for the Tree of Life was born during the early planning stages of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. One of the most impressive aspects of the Tree of Life is its engineering. Standing at 145 feet tall, with over 8,000 branches, and around 102,000 artificial leaves, the tree sculpture took a total of 18 months to construct.

The Tree of Life also holds the record for the tallest tree sculpture to exist. The skeleton of the tree is made from a 14-story oil rig, and the base of the tree holds a 428-seat theatre, which hosts the attraction, It’s Tough to be a Bug! The Tree of Life is not just a static sculpture; it’s a testament to Disney’s commitment to creativity and innovation.

Animal Carvings
